Jazzin’ up the Hymnz
The wife and I were trolling flea markets and second hand stores, you know, like ya do. I was looking through the CDs, cuz I’m a sucker for cheap and/or weird music, and I came across this gem:
I came home and looked it up. Turns out the artist, Richy Petrello, has a page.
A MySpace page.
Anyhoo, he has a sample of one of his “hymns” up on the site: I Surrender All.
If you are wondering, how could someone possibly jazz up an altar call hymn?
Well…

Songwriting Advice
MUSIC TEACHER: Accent marks should be used sparingly. It’s generally considered bad form to write a song in which *every* word in the verse is accented.

Programming Training Resources
Just over a year ago I made a career switch, from desktop support and project management to programming. As I have been learning to program, here are some of the best free or inexpensive resources I have come across:
- Bob Tabor is the great for C#, HTML5 & CSS3, and his videos are on Microsoft Virtual Academy.
- The C# Programming Yellow Book by Rob Miles, available on Kindle
- Learn C# by Building a Simple RPG by Scott Lilly
- SQL Zoo

I fixed the clock and bulbs in my Toyota
I drive a 2005 Toyota Corolla which I adore. Unfortunately, ever since I purchased it in 2013 it has had trouble with the clock sometimes working and sometimes staying dark. You can buy replacements, but they run around $60 for a used clock.
Then I found a link to DC HomeMaker, where the author mentioned that she fixed hers herself. It really is as simple as she describes. All you need is a soldering iron and a couple screwdrivers.
Here is the result:
While I was doing it I also replaced the bulbs behind the climate control knobs with LEDs from SuperBright LEDs in Earth City, MO. The ones you want are the NEO4-NWHP: 4mm NEO4-xHP Natural White.

Zerk
When I was growing up I remember hearing the term ‘grease zert,’ and I just assumed it was a made-up word. While my dad was skilled at a lot of things (drawing, aviation, mechanics, welding), he was not always known to handle the English language in a manner consistent with the generally agreed upon principles of usage (he once wrote the word ‘paided’ as a past tense for ‘pay’).
But it turns out that in this case he was pretty darn close:
