Review: Best. Screwdriver. Ever.

For almost seven years I have used the Allway Composite 4-IN-1 screwdriver. It is lightweight, ergonomic, and unlike most screwdrivers, not top-heavy, so it doesn’t fall out of your tool pouch. The body is fiberglass and plastic. Unlike most multi-bit screwdrivers, this doesn’t try to have a bit for every possible size and use: it just  comes with 4 bits (two flat and two Phillips), since that is what you are most likely to use most all of the time. The photo shows a black and yellow model, but I have only found them in black and orange.

It runs about $3 at Wal-Mart, and it’s even American made.

I didn’t buy it because it was American-made; I bought it because it was the best-designed screwdriver I have ever used. The fact that it was made in America was just a bonus.

I think if companies concentrated on making the best products ever, then consumers wouldn’t have to be guilted into buying second-rate products for the sake of preserving American jobs.
