Coming Soon: the MadCast

Happy New Year! I have now been blogging for 6 years, though I haven’t been really that active this last year. Anyhoo, coming to MadMania starting this month will be a new feature, a monthly / biweekly podcast about design and storytelling, and maybe some other stuff.

Typecast

I swear, you write one blog post about accidentally giving a prostitute a lift and next thing you know you have this in your search stats:

lotlizard

Seamus

Recently I was checking my blog stats and saw some of the search terms that drove people to my site. I thought this search term was rather curious:

seamus

At first I assumed that they had misheard the name of Billy Joel’s Shameless, which Garth Brooks covered on his album Ropin’ the Wind.

But maybe they meant this:

roopinthewind-web

5 Years

As of the 5th of this month I have now been blogging for five years. It’s way longer than I expected. I started this thing after my TV went out and I was no longer able to play Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and boredom really does breed creativity (I’m even thinking of throttling the house’s Netflix and internet usage).

I would still continue to maintain this blog if nobody read it–this was something I started for myself, I receive no income from it, and have never solicited pageviews.

But for both of you who still read it–thank you.

Curious search

Checking the stats while logging in, this apparently was a search that brought someone to my blog:

“morrowind stomach growling”

Four Years, Baby

It’s hard to believe I’ve been blogging for four years now. Too bad I have marked the occasion by only two posts in the entire month. Things have been kind of hectic here, and I started a new project the day after my last post. It’s going to be huge, and I plan to post updates frequently, as kind of a development diary, hopefully to help those that do similar projects.

Merry Christmas to all of you who read my blog, or maybe I should say ‘to both of you.’

Special project for October

Hey, I’m back, just like I said. I’m starting a new project this month in MadMania: you email me a photo that you have personally taken and don’t give me any details about it. I will post the photo and a story I make up based on what I can observe in the photo. Sound fun? Just email your photo to photostory -AT- madmangraphics.com (use regular email address–I just don’t want my email scraped by spambots).

Later,

Dan

So…

Sooo…I haven’t posted for a while (duh). No apologies, just taking a break. No promises when I will update again, but check back again in October. Go out and enjoy your autumn, the prince of seasons.

My TV is a goner pt. 2

This blog was birthed because my TV was having problems in December of 2008. Now, it has finally died. Eight years of mostly loyal service. It’s terminal this time.

And so, we will have to start TV shopping some time. I’m not in a huge hurry, as I have a ton of other productive things I have to do, and other more important expenses, like replacing the water heater.

Upside for the two of you who read this blog: I should start posting more often.

Lookin’ for…um…whatever, and in the right places

I logged in to my blog control panel to see about penning a new post, and was surprised when I saw one of the phrases searched that brought visitors to my site:

Even weirder is that I have a post that matches is almost perfectly.
